The mysterious SOPHIE burst onto the scene with the strikingly original, hyperactive and sugar coated club track ‘Bipp’ in 2013, picking up all kinds of praise from a huge range of admirers. Diplo named Bipp his tune of the summer, it earned best new track on Pitchfork, The Guardian named it one of the ‘Hottest Tracks in Miami 2013’… the list goes on and on.
Not a typical club banger, it acted as an indicator for a new surge in life for the UK dance music underground, paving the way for all kinds of innovations, most notably the PC Music scene which is fast taking over the underground.
Remaining shrouded in mystery, SOPHIE has since released the super kaleidoscopic double A-side ‘Lemonade/Hard’ on the ever prolific and top notch label Numbers, followed by the excellent and conceptual QT with PC Music. Not just a track, it’s an experience, an energy drink, a call and question of what pop music actually is.
Not one for conventions, SOPHIE has to be seen to be believed and you won’t get a much better chance than at Field Day. A true mystery, innovative and exciting prospect which should demand consideration in your party plans at Field Day.Listen
