Musical provocateur and frontman of the atmospheric Brooklyn four-piece DIIV, Zachary Cole-Smith has shown his song-writing talents knows no bounds. Indebted to classic Kraut, grunge, and dreamy guitar pop, the groups debut album Oshin took the scene by storm, turning the heads of the New York indie scene before going on to infiltrate scenes, radio stations and TV shows around the world.
It’s rare nowadays that a group can have such a huge impact so soon after their inception but in the case of DIIV they had the material and live show to make this impact a certainty. Each song taken from the record is crafted in such a way that it will almost certainly stand the test of time and listening to the album now it seems as fresh as it did when it was released in 2012. The gap between this release and now can only mean one thing, that new material is surely on the way and we’re super excited to hear it. Bring on DIIV at Field Day 2015.
